Games to Cultivate a Creative Attitude: 2/22 7:00-9:00pm
Utilizes a series of arts-based group games designed by the instructor to cultivate creative and critical thinking, promote collaboration and dialogue, and exercise multi-modal expression. The games involve imaginative reconsiderations of everyday objects, symbols, words, and spaces that are shared and developed collaboratively through various forms of artistic production (drawing, poetry, drama & movement). FREE Haitian dance workshop and discussion with master teacher and choreographer Jean Appolon! In a fun and inviting format, Jean Appolon will teach the folkloric dances of his native Haiti. No prior experience necessary! Following the dance workshop, participants are invited to join a discussion about their experiences of immigration.

BOMBAntillana Workshop Series with Lady: 2/27 6:30 - 7:30pm
Through a series of movement workshops we will explore Bomba, an afro-puertorican music and dance genre that was created by enslaved Africans, Taino/Arawak Native peoples of the island and the Spanish during slavery (17th Century) on the island of Puerto Rico. CityPOP artists Eli "Lady" Pabon will lead the workshops focusing on the 5 main rhythms of Bomba (Sica, Holande, Yuba, Cuembe and Seis).
